Rachel's Hen House

I currently have 100+ chickens of many assorted laying breeds, some are rare some are produciton. The eggs come in many colors. The egg cartons are clear for you to see exactly what I mean.

New breeds added are: Marans, Partridge Penedesca and Icelandics. The first 2 breeds lay dark chocolate colored eggs. I will have some in a few months as they come into production. Also I am the only person in Washington State that has Icelandic chickens.

The egg yolks of the chickens are a bright orange-yellow and are a great treat over easy.

Most of the time my chickens free range in the orchard, sometimes if I see predators I keep them in a large fenced yard. The chickens are fed the left overs and culls from the fruitstand, along with the normal chicken kibble you get at feed stores.

Oyster shell is given freely (they need it for calcium for the egg shells)

The eggs are washed in a food grade egg wash.

Eggs can be bought in Dozen cartons or in Half Dozen cartons. The best time to find eggs at the fruitstand is on weekends.

I also bring eggs to the Leavenworth Farmers Market on Thursdays.
