How to know when your USA Pear is ripe...

The pear you use for eating, you'll want to be at their sweet and juicy best. Test for ripeness by pressing gently near the stem end of the pear. It should yield to gentle pressure. Most USA Pears do not change color when ripe. Bartlett pears, however, do change color. To ripen USA Pears, place them in a fruit bowl or a paper bag until they are ready to be enjoyed.
